Shimmer Paints and Halloween

When I first saw my new shimmers paints from the new Holiday Mini catalog (Need a Mini? E-mail me, and I’ll send you a free copy ASAP) I wasn’t quite sure what to do with them. I knew if I didn’t have them I would see something awesome and regret my ability to take a risk. I posted my concern at Stampin Addicts and the ladies pulled through! One idea mentioned that hadn’t been tried yet was making a mist using the paints, water and a sprizter.

Well I took a risk, bought the spritzers (yes, Christa and Ginger…this is what I bought them for…Surprise!!!) and viola, I am the proud owner of a shimmer paints spritzer! I misted a piece of Basic Black Card Stock, let it dry (all of 30 seconds) and ran it through my Big Shot with the Backgrounds 1 texture plate. I’m in love!

The focal image is the new Haunting Hill jumbo wheel and the ribbon is from the Ribbon Originals Mistletoe, also from the mini. While listed as Christmas ribbon, this Old Olive satin ribbon is perfect for Halloween and fall.

Can you see the shimmer on the Basic Black card stock?!?! NO?!?! Then you better get to my Stamp Camp tonight because we are making this card and all the cards posted this week!

Inks: Basic Black, Old Olive
Card Stock: Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black

The Fun of Fall Part 3

This is the card my husband actually commented on (positively) when he entered my craft room. Yes, men are allowed entry into my craft room after they have requested permission to enter three days in advance. Seems fair to me. I must explain the “positively” comment. The last time my husband commented on one of my mono-chromatic cards with glitter, swirls and the giant flower from The Pretties Kit, he told me it looked Amish. Who knew the Amish loved their bling?!?! Clearly he should stick to “lawyering”.

The focal image uses first and second generation Soft Suede ink. It is raised with dimensionals and edged with the distressing tool. The panel it sits on is also distressed. When creating fall cards and gifts, texture plays a big role. Coloring is key, too, and Kraft and Soft Suede are a perfect pairing for a fall mono-chromatic look. I designed this lay-out to work with the sentiments from the Fall Harvest Rub-Ons as well.

Here’s the inside…

IMG_3101

I think the inside of cards should look just as nice as the outside. Instead of creating a new card today, think about snazzing up the inside of one of the cards sitting on your shelf.

The Recipe:

Stamps: Autumn Days, Thoughts and Prayers (sentiment), Itty Bitty BG
Ink: Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip
Card Stock: Soft Suede, Kraft Autumn Traditions DSP
Accessories/Tools: large silver grommets, twine, hole punch
